Public Programs

Schedule for Summer 2018

Little Hikers Storytime
Join the Conservancy Naturalist for a story and then a hike on some of the many trails of the Conservancy.  We will use our senses to discover nature first hand.  The hikes are tailored for pre-schoolers and will visit a new part of the conservancy each week.  Child should be accompanied by an adult.

Frog Walk
Experience the night sounds of frogs and other wetland noise-makers of early spring.  We will try to identify the residents of Lac Lawrann.  Bring your flashlight!

Bluebird Walk
Interested in setting up Eastern Bluebird nesting boxes in your backyard? Join us for this walk presented by Ray Pinter a member of the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin.  Learn more about Bluebirds and what you can do to help them thrive while bringing their beauty and song to your own backyard.

Junior Naturalist Camp
Get ready to get dirty and learn along the way.  These hands on week long camps will explore animals, habitats, science, and much more.  Topics change annually, to keep the Junior Naturalists engaged.  Campers need to bring a bag lunch every day.  We will cook-out on the final day.

Adventure Camp
Geared toward the true adventurer wjo is willing to try new things, while making new friends.  We will be biking from Lac Lawrann to different parks in the West Bend Park System.  We will do archery, pickle ball, swimming, hiking, volleyball, kayaking, and much more.  Campers will need to supply their own bike, (which can stay securely at the Conservancy during camp) helmet, swimsuit, daily lunch and snacks.  A camp t-shirt will be provided.

Muckin’ in the Mud
What lies beneath the waters surface?  Come out to the Conservancy and find out.  We will spend the entire time catching, logging, and releasing some of Lac Lawrann’s aquatic dwellers.  Bring boots that can get wet and your sense of adventure.

Try Kayaking
Recreational kayaks are easy to paddle, hard to tip, and fit any body shape or type. They’re built so anyone can experience kayaking. Join us and discover why paddling these kayaks is so popular and so much fun! You’ll learn about  safe launching and landing, equipment and clothing, basic strokes, safety, and what to do if you tip over. After this class, you’re all set to enjoy a peaceful, low-impact activity that you can share with others.

Little Hikers
Join the Conservancy Naturalist for a hands-on hike using our senses to discover nature first hand.  This will be a stop and go hike, making it easy for little ones to keep up.  We will visit different parts of the Conservancy each week.

Glacial Geology
The glaciers have been gone for over 10,000 years, but we can still see the remnants of their passage through Wisconsin.  The Naturalist will take you on a hike on our very own esker, and teach you about glacial features that we can see today.

Flitter Flutter Butterflies
How do butterflies fly?  What is the “magic fairy dust” that comes off when you touch them.  Find out the secrets of these beautiful creatures and see if you can catch one to look at up close.  We will also provide information for your very own butterfly garden.
