Milwaukee Riverkeepers, a citizen scientist evening

January 8, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

As the holidays and winter snows approach .I want to make all of you aware of a program at Lac Lawrann’s Maurin Center on January 8th at 7:00PM. We will be hosting Milwaukee Riverkeepers for a citizen scientist evening.

Road salt, used as a deicer on our roadways can be a threat to our waterways and ground water if not applied properly. So the proximity of Lac Lawrann to the Milwaukee River makes us a perfect host to those interested in becoming a road salt monitors. As a former science teacher at West Bend West HS, my students monitored the water quality in the Milwaukee River for 20 years as part of the Testing the Waters Program through Riveredge Nature center, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. the UW Extension and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District.

This is the perfect opportunity to become involved in a citizen science project and help collect data to work on the continuous improvement of our waters.
