It’s May and the Plant Sale volunteers are in the final week of preparing for the sale on Saturday, May 13.  The season began with a challenge that has turned into an opportunity for us to step up our game.  See if the plants don’t look better than ever!  The threat of the Asian Jumping worm meant we needed to ensure the potting soil was worm free.  We can thank Angie Curtes for her help with the soil recipe, and for being our source for a safe compost starter.  Check out her website or talk to her at the plant sale if you are curious about hot-process compost.

Plants for sale are a combination of natives and garden perennials adding up to about 6000 plants.  Lac Lawrann members have the first chance to shop the sale at the presale on Friday, May 12 from 3 – 6 p.m.  There is still time to become a member and enjoy this perk of membership!  Follow this link to the LLC website to become a member.

Plant Sale volunteers worked every Tuesday and Thursday in April to pot up the purchased and donated plants.  Thursday, May 4 is the last day for plant donations.  If possible, bring plants in bare root.  All plants have their roots rinsed before potting to be sure no worm cocoons are present.

The list of plants you can find at the sale will be at the website.  Download and be prepared to find the plants you need.  As before, native plants are located inside and in front of the tent; garden perennials are inside and in front of the barn. Artists have created wood carvings and garden art.
