Greetings,

Even though many places in our community are currently shut down, the trails and parks in West Bend are open.  For the safety of all in the state, Governor Evers issued his “Safer at Home” order in mid-March.  Since then the number of people engaging in outdoor activities under appropriate and safe conditions has been increasing and as a result the trails at Lac Lawrann Conservancy (and other city parks) have seen a significant up-tick in usage.  Maintenance of the trails at LLC is largely the responsibility of our volunteers.  Under the Safer at Home orders the volunteer stewards are unable to continue with their work.  Funds to operate the conservancy come from our annual Wildflower Sale and from building rentals.  Our sale was cancelled as are the current rentals until the stay at home order expires on May 24th. “Giving Tuesday” took place  two days ago on May 5th. It is recognized as a day of global giving to support your local community and non-profits.

If you missed Giving Tuesday, you can still consider a donation to the Lac Lawrann Conservancy.  Know that any donation of $35 or more automatically includes membership in the Friends organization and will get you into next year’s Wildflower sale a day early!

Donations can be made securely on-line through our website

Or they can be mailed to:

Spring is rapidly unfolding at Lac Lawrann.  Birds are nesting and to see some great photos, check out the those from Courtney, our naturalist,  of great-horned owlet’s that she posted on our facebook page.

If you have a chance, head out to the cConservancy.  There, following the appropriate social distancing guidelines, you can watch the birds, check out wildflowers blooming and the trees budding out and I’ll see you on the trails, from a safe distance!
