All are welcome, male, female, young, and old, at the kick-off breakfast for the Friends of Lac Lawrann Conservancy’s 30th Annual Wildflower and Perennial sale. The pot luck breakfast is Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Maurin Center at the conservancy, 300 Schmidt Rd, West Bend. If you enjoy gardening, good fellowship and want to ‘think spring’ it’s the place to be.
Breakfast will be followed by a program detailing volunteer activities. You will also learn about Asian “jumping worms” and the danger they pose. Committee members will show pictures and describe new and featured plants for this year’s sale, potting tips, and the work schedule leading up to the May 13 Sale. About 6,000 plants are potted for the sale. Some come from nurseries and many are donated from volunteer’s gardens.
If you would like to learn more about both native and perennial plants and are not afraid of working in a barn, become a Lac Lawrann volunteer. The plant sale committee will have breakfast hot dishes and coffee. Please bring something to share (fruit, pastry, juice etc.). Please make reservations for the breakfast by Februay 27 by registering online (register here) or call Karen at (262) 692-9227.
